Frequently Asked Questions

Your hospital will receive a promo code that can be used for any new hires as they come in. During our periodic check-ins with the hospital, you can let us know if there have been team members who are no longer with your hospital, and we can disconnect their account.

No, think of GMU as a “choose your own adventure book”. You can start by what is most important or interesting to you at that time. There are communities within GMU that will offer peer support.

The program can be completed in as little as 12 months, but it doesn’t have to be completed in 12 months. As long as the hospital continues to be a Get MotiVETed University member hospital, they will always have access to the course material and all other GMU resources!

We anticipate buy-in coming from a combination of 3 sources:

  1. The conviction of the team leaders who believe in GMU, regularly discussing it and implementing creative solutions unique to their team. 1. Ex. Some practices offer incentives for completing a featured course. (Featured, meaning they choose a course).
  1. While GMU is not yet gamified across the globe, it can be done within your organization. The conviction of the Get MotiVETed team. We are happy to speak to your team about the benefits of GMU, encourage them to participate, and answer questions they have during a lunch meeting.
  2. The infusion of GM/GMU into the culture of the workplace, as team members begin joining and actively participating, other team members are more likely to jump on board.

We HIGHLY recommend that you DO NOT allow them to complete the course material while on the clock. This would likely lead to unnecessary drama (just being honest). GMU is designed to be something they do on their own time because they desire to improve their wellbeing and their ability to be more effective at work and at home. If your team members are viewing this as “mandatory” or “more work to do” or even a reason to “not get that room” then the point and purpose of GMU has been missed. In this case, contact us to help clarify this for both you and your team members.

An exception to this may be if they want to use a spare computer over lunch or during a break to log-in and complete the course material. Nowadays with smartphones, however, they could easily access the course material from a phone or tablet.

At the end of the day, you know your team best, and we trust your judgement!

  1. We have intentionally designed the curriculum so that anyone with enough intelligence to access and desire the information would also be able to comprehend it! If reading isn’t a strength, then they can use the audio and video resources that we have available for them to digest the same information included in the written/text content!
  2. We are available to answer questions by email and discussion boards within the platform. There is also our Facebook Group where questions can be posted, and they can gain support from the entire GMU community!
  3. We are always open to feedback, so if there is anything that can be more effective, we are open to receiving that information.

The time expected to see results from the course participants will vary greatly. However, you can notice a change in individual GMU participants in less than a month. Whenever you notice the change, you will notice improvements in mindset/attitude, optimism, appreciation, and ability to be a team player who is solutions oriented. You may notice a decrease in things like complaining, less errors, negativity, gossip, and petty dramas. You may notice an increase in productivity, communication, or even leadership qualities.

  1. The time expected to see results in your hospital will vary greatly and is multifactorial. However, depending on the number of team members who are enrolled and going through the course material, you could notice results in as little as a few weeks. Especially if leadership is actively enrolled and participating in the courses.
  2. If all of your team members were to go through the course as material as recommended, the results would be rapid, continuous, and would likely improve the entire hospital culture! You will notice improvements in team cohesion, hospital morale, and client experience. You will likely notice decreases in drama, gossip, judgment, stress, and complaints!
  3. If you (leadership) is involved actively in the courses, you will notice a significant change in the quality of your own experiences, stress levels, and perspectives independent of others.

Suicide Prevention

On-demand Training

This program is approved for 2 hours RACE CE credits. It covers information that is meant to be very useful to you – the veterinary caregiver. Not checkbox.

It’s meant to help you better understand a subject that isn’t talked about nearly as much as it should be.

It is not filled with statistics, definitions, jargon, and lingo that only mental health professionals would understand.

It is filled with common questions from a veterinarian that are being asked to a behavioral health expert who specializes in suicide prevention.

Leadership Consulting

Growth and Confidence

Grow into a confident individual who knows what they want out of life, knows how to get it, and won’t accept anything less! You know you deserve it, and we’ll show you how to get it!

Crisis Planning

Peer supported, clinician guided

Dr. Feldman Ph.D and Renee work directly with leadership to create a

fingertips to address challenges as they arise. You and your team will feel more confident and competent to meet known and unknown circumstances as it relates to the mental health and wellbeing of your staff.

Customized Services and Speaking Events

We work with a variety of groups, from student clubs to veterinary buying groups. We are happy to have a discussion about how we can meet your unique needs and budget!

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Hawley and Renee on multiple occasions. The most recent occasion was at the National American Pre-Veterinary Medical Association’s Symposium being held at Auburn’s University College of Veterinary Medicine. They are phenomenal individuals who would go out of their way to assist you in any way they can. I cannot wait to continue working with them and be able to call them my colleagues in four short years. It is always great and fun when seeing them and I will always look forward to the next time I get to see them!

Dr. Quincy Hawley and Renee's passion to help the veterinary industry fight Compassion Fatigue and Burnout are truly evident when they speak. I had the opportunity to attend a GetMotiveted CE and I can honestly say that I wish seminars such as this one were available when I was a hospital manager. Listening to Dr. Hawley and Renee helped me realize that Burnout and Compassion Fatigue are not isolated to just the doctor, but that the entire support staff can suffer from it. After over 10 years in the veterinary industry with over 4 of them as a Manager of a hospital, I can truly attest to how beneficial it is to have not just the doctor but the entire team have a positive outlook and have ways to help fight the burnout that can be felt from the day to day stresses that occur in the field. The steps they present, not only help me when I am struggling professionally, but I have also found them useful when struggling personally. I highly encourage not just hospital leaders and doctors to attend, but the entire team. You will not only get beneficial information but it is an awesome team-building opportunity.
Jaye Lynn Orellano
Practice Manager
I went into this seminar feeling severely anxious, stressed, and burned out from my job with compassion fatigue nipping at my heels. As a busy Chief of Staff for a very large veterinary corporation, these things were directly affecting my ability to perform my duties to the fullest. I lacked the skills and knowledge to recover from my everyday work life. This seminar not only gave me SO many tools, resources, and the personal insight needed to start my journey into my own health and wellness but, more importantly, the realization that I wasn't alone and there was hope to recover enough to rejoin the field I loved and respected. I want to thank Renee Machel and Dr. Quincy Hawley for bringing their experiences, skills, and knowledge to the veterinary community. If you are feeling any of the above emotions like I was, do yourselves a favor and sign up for a seminar. You won't regret it.
