Dr. Tara Miller

Title – Compassion Fatigue Consultant

Biography

Dr. Miller was born and raised in Iowa. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science with a minor in Microbiology at Iowa State University, she continued her education at Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in May 2013. Upon graduating, she was accepted into a competitive Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care Internship at Eastern Iowa Veterinary Specialty Center in Cedar Rapids Iowa. After completing her internship, she had continued working in Emergency and Critical Care as well as a small animal and exotics general practice before making her home in Colorado and joining the VCA Stapleton Animal Hospital family as the Medical Director.

Her special interests are in small animal emergency and critical care, cardiology,
ophthalmology, senior wellness, preventative medicine, multimodal pain
management (including acupuncture), behavior, and surgery. She is pursuing her
CVA (certified veterinary acupuncture) and is a Certified Compassion Fatigue
Professional. Wellness in both animals and humans is a passion. She loves
providing education about different aspects of veterinary medicine and looks forward to continuing this in our community.

Dr. Miller has 4 cats: Harper, Hayden, Hadleigh, and Henderson. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with their friends and family as well as serving the community. Outside of veterinary medicine, she enjoys riding horses (dressage), the circus arts (lyra, silks, acroyoga), yoga, reading, painting, hiking and traveling.
